Listening Test Development Template and Rubric Template.
Reproduce one template of each for intermediate and advanced tasks.
For the test development document, read the instructions very carefully.
Once you share your test development document with your peers to actually take the test, do not share the rubrics with them in advance. The peers take the test as a student, and the developers will see actual responses to help them finalize their rubrics. Each person will take a test, and each group will see answers from the other group to their test.

Agenda:
The agenda can be found here. A printed copy will be provided at the conference.
Lodging:
The group will be staying at the Hyatt Place Tempe / Phoenix / University. Participants will be staying in shared rooms with two queen beds. Your hotel arrangements will be made for you by SEALC and ASU, checking in March 7 and departing March 10, 2024 (3 nights). A list of roommates and confirmation numbers can be found here. Please note that late arrivals on Thursday/Friday and early departures on Sunday are highlighted.
The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from Durham Hall, where the conference will take place.
Local Transportation:
We encourage participants to use the light rail system ($2/one way; $4/ for an all-day pass).
You can watch a step-by-step video on the Sky Train and light rail trip to campus here. The hotel is between two light rail stops (Veterans Way/College Ave and University Dr/Rural Rd), with about a 5-10 minute walk from either station. The airport is about five miles from the hotel. Here is a map of the route and a link to the Valley Metro app.
Waymo is also an option. Tempe is one of the few cities that have driverless autonomous vehicles that people can hail using an apps. There is no need to tip when using Waymo since there is no driver.
Catering:
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and one coffee break are covered March 8 and March 9. Breakfast is provided by the hotel.
Expenses that are covered by the home institution:
Airfare
Per diems on travel days
Transport to and from airport in home city
Light rail fees, Waygo, Lyft, or other local transport fees in Arizona
Please contact SEALC if your home institution does not provide travel support. If you will need travel support from SEALC, DO NOT book your own airfare. We cannot reimburse flights that are not booked with UW-Madison’s mandatory travel agency.
Accessibility:
Please contact SEALC if you are unable to walk up to 15 minutes between the hotel and classroom, or between the light rail station and the hotel. ASU can make arrangements for a golf cart and provide a Lyft code for transportation.
You will also need to fill out an application through DART by February 20 for mobility services.
Health and Weather Concerns:
Bring a water bottle with you to Arizona and stay hydrated. If salt tastes sweet, it may be a sign that you are dehydrated.
Be sure to bring and wear sunscreen. Consider additional sun protection if needed, such as a long-sleeved shirt or sun hat.
Technology:
Please be sure to bring your laptop and charger to both days of class. Please bring your laptop fully charged each day since outlets may be limited.
Emergency contact info:
You can call Beth Misco at 608-262-0646 with any urgent concerns. This number is the SEALC office phone, which will forward to Beth’s phone. You cannot send text messages to this number.
