Take a Southeast Asian language class via distance this Fall! Anyone is welcome to apply for and enroll in the courses listed below so long as they fulfill the specific requirements of the institution offering the language course.
The Southeast Asian Language Council (SEALC) and the Graduate Education and Training in Southeast Asian Studies (GETSEA) consortia are pleased to announce the launch of the SEALC-GETSEA Virtual Language Institute. The goal of this institute is to increase the visibility of accessible SEA language courses during the academic year for students nationwide, and in so doing support member institutions’ SEA language programs and the long-term viability of SEA studies in the United States.
Read below for more information on the virtual, synchronous course offerings of our member institutions, including how to apply and enroll at each individual institution. Interested individuals are responsible for contacting the institution directly for admission and enrollment. Institution-specific requirements must be met for admission and enrollment.
Students who are interested in applying for language tuition support during the academic year are invited to read more about our SEALC-GETSEA Language Tuition Awards initiative. The application for the 2024-2025 academic year is available here. The application deadline is July 12, 2024. Applications are considered complete once the letter of recommendation is received by SEALC at sealc@intl.wisc.edu.
