Below is the link and information on how to access the additional feedback from your colleagues post-UCLA symposium.

Anyone with the link can view the spreadsheet where the URLs of the summary documents are laid out. In the spreadsheet, one tab is called “Listed by Language Group,” so the list is in alphabetical order of language/group. In the other tab, “Listed by Sequence,” the same list of URLs is presented according to the order of presentations at UCLA.  
 

Please note that in your revision (due on October 30), you are to also address the main comments from the trainers and discussants during the symposium. Your team leaders may have taken some notes during the discussion that they can share with you as well.

Transportation:
Way-finding assistance includes directions on how to get from LAX airport to UCLA and a campus map with the hotel and workshop location marked.

Program:

If you are attending the symposium in person, please note the following:

  • Breakfast is available at the hotel Friday morning. Please be sure to finish breakfast and meet in the lobby by 7:40. Juliana will leave the lobby to walk to the conference room at 7:45 sharp. You will arrive on campus at 8:10.
  • If you wish to make your own way to campus, the room will be available starting at 7:30 Friday morning.
  • Remember to bring your fully-charged laptop and your laptop charger. All evaluations will be done via google docs.
  • Please be sure to bring a light jacket. Afternoons and evenings in Los Angeles will be cooler this week.

Lodging:
Lodging will be at The Tiverton. Please be prepared for a 20 minute walk between the hotel and the workshop room (10383 Bunche Hall). Please contact Juliana if an accommodation is needed. The participants will be met at the hotel to walk the group over to Bunche Hall on the first day, leaving at 7:45am sharp.

Area Restaurants:
A list of restaurants in Westwood (the college town) is provided for those who want to grab a bite Thursday or Sunday.

WiFi:
Participants can connect to the wifi provided by the hotel. While on campus, you can use UCLA_WEB which does not requires a login. If you want to use other wireless networks, eduroam or UCLA_WIFI, UCLA CSEAS will provide login access at the start of the workshop.

Upcoming Deadlines:
Revisions to Materials – September 8 deadline
As you are making revisions to your materials, please take the following steps:
*Make sure to refer to the
Checklist. Many issues can be addressed in advance by considering the checklist carefully.
 *Highlight any changes that you make after you receive comments.

Preparing Your Presentations*Presentations should be 12 minutes long. If you hit 15 minutes, you will be cut off (sorry!).
*Your team leader will provide additional guidance.
*A sample 10-and-a-half-minute presentation based on the sample English lesson “When Is It OK To…?” has been published on YouTube. See video description for additional details.
